I have zealously pressed the Government to consider allowing a company or multiple natural persons to hold a liquor licence. My oral question at the LegCo on 10 March 2010 raised the awareness of the legislative review on liquor licensing again while the Administration reasserted that they would make reference to the Karaoke Establishment Ordinance in relaxing the appropriate party for holding a liquor licence.
In the FBTF meetings following up the progress of the review, the Administration further indicated that an inter-departmental working group led by the Food and Health Bureau would continue with the legislative review to address the concerns of the trade and explore other alternatives to streamline the liquor licensing requirements. They intend to consult the trade and the relevant LegCo Panel on the review results by the end of this year. For more details, please go to http://www.gov.hk/en/theme/bf/pdf/FBTFPaper33.pdf. |
