1. Seek for the Government to abolish wine
duty with a bill that will be enacted as a long-term policy and not open to
change from year to year. By doing so, the
fine wine trade will no doubt expand their businesses and relocate their fine
wine stocks to Hong
Kong from all the
world.
2. Collect opinions from the trade through
focus groups on demerit points system for licensed food premises to be amended
by the Government and write up a counter-proposal, for example:
- Against extending the license suspension
period from 7 to 10 days upon the accumulating 15 demerit points within a period of 12
months;
- Cancel any offence without breaching food
safety or public hygiene regulations in the system.
3. Lobby the Government to award the cost
of appeal against the TES rates to the successful appellants.
4. Call for the Government to launch
compensation arrangements for all employers and employees engaged in the
wholesale, transportation, retail and farming of live poultry as promised.
5. Request the Government immediately responsive
to my motion passed at the LegCo on 30 April 2008 to cease the imposition of the levy on
employers of foreign domestic helpers.
6. Close monitor on Government’s
preparation on tender of contract for the live pig slaughterhouse and take into
account all requirements for opening up live pig market such as having
sufficient accommodation for live pigs of all suppliers.
